This spring’s convergence is just three weeks away! If you haven’t already registered to join hundreds of students from across CA build community, share resources, plan action, attend workshops, and celebrate, you can do so here. Early bird registration ends on April 16th, after which the price will rise from $20 to $25 (though full scholarships are available). If you have already registered, brace yourself for the awesomeness coming your way! Words can’t begin to describe what UC Davis has in store, but I’ll try anyway:
Speakers
- Tim DeChristopher, the student who bought up land to prevent it from going to oil companies at a federal auction. He started his own group in Salt Lake City, where he hails, called Peaceful Uprising. Here is a Democracy Now! piece on his case.
- Rikki Ott, PhD, is a community activist, a former commercial salmon “fisherm’am,” and has a degree in marine toxicology with a specialty in oil pollution. She experienced firsthand the devastating effects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill—and chose to do something about it
